Three quarters of Scots prefer to buy Scottish food where possible, far ahead of the British population as a whole. While this might suggest that producers looking beyond the boarder should be cautious about ‘wrapping themselves in the flag’, the continued possibility of Scottish independence could mean significant changes to the British population’s attitudes towards Scottish food and drink.

This report explores consumers’ opinions on buying Scottish and, if Scottish independence were to happen, the resulting impact this may have on consumers’ purchasing intent.
